A Sustainable Alpine Village Community
The Delta Group is currently in discussions with First Nations, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, the Provincial Government and various environmental organizations regarding the company's vision to create a "sustainable" and "family-friendly community" in the Lower Soo Valley, situated 10 kilometers northwest of Whistler, between Cougar Mountain and Rutherford Ridge. A wildlife refuge to the west in the Upper Soo Valley is also being contemplated.
The concept for the proposed community is being modeled on the success of small European alpine villages similar to those found in the regions surrounding Kitzbuhel, Austria; Interlaken, Switzerland and Cortina, Italy. It is intended that the new community be built on a foundation of sustainability designed for BC residents and those who work in the Whistler/Pemberton area. The goal is to demonstrate a new era of the private sector working in partnership with First Nations and all government.
